The production design for this film consisted of designing, building, and dressing two small sets on a soundstage: a kitchen in a small New York city rental apartment, and a bed room in a family house in Connecticut that has remained unchanged for many years.

This film takes place in Ethan and Vera’s apartment, which I designed and built on a soundstage. The apartment is a small New York one-bedroom that the characters have lived in for a few years. They have decorated by painting, moving plants in, and hanging artwork by friends. The layout is designed to enhance the ominous tone of the film, with doors at the backs of the characters, architectural elements that box them in, obscured windows, and many reflective surfaces. The film also features a sequence of abstracted overlapping images, which we filmed in a fish tank.

The production design for this film consisted of dressing the beautiful location with items that show that the characters have recently moved into their home and are in the process of meticulously arranging their space. The set dressing changes over the course of the film to indicate the passage of time as the characters settle in. The props work consisted of sourcing and aging multiple trash cans, creating a distinct demonic trash can which functions as a prop and character in the film, as well as sculpting outlandish trash piles.

The production design for this short film included converting an empty cargo van into a ICE detention van, transforming a living room into a bedroom for two itinerant men, and scouting and dressing locations. For the van, I designed and built the screens and benches, altered the window openings and removed an upholstered floor. For the bedroom, I textured, painted and distressed the walls; plugged a doorway with a wild window wall; and brought in all the set dressing and props.
